Alia Bhatt addresses online criticism over her BAFTA interview reaction while discussing her upcoming films Alpha and Love and War.

Alia Bhatt Explains BAFTA ‘Gone Girl’ Moment

Actor Alia Bhatt has responded to criticism she faced after a viral clip from the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) sparked debate online.

Alia attended the ceremony as a presenter, where she introduced the award for Best Film Not in the English Language. However, a short interview clip later drew attention on social media.

The ‘Gone Girl’ Question

During a red carpet interaction, Alia was asked to name a film with an impressive plot twist. She mentioned Gone Girl but appeared momentarily surprised while recalling details of the film.

The clip circulated widely, with some viewers questioning whether she had seen the movie or suggesting that she seemed hesitant in her response.

Alia’s Clarification

Addressing the reactions in a conversation with fashion commentator Diet Sabya, Alia said she was simply trying to recall specific scenes from memory.

She explained that while she believes Gone Girl has one of the best twists, she had watched it many years ago. When the interviewer referenced a particular monologue, she was mentally revisiting the scene, which may have reflected in her expressions.

Alia questioned why her reaction was being discussed so extensively and suggested that her facial expressions were being overanalysed.

In a light-hearted tone, she added that she does not consider herself “cool,” describing herself instead as more sweet and natural in her responses.

Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Alia is set to star in Alpha, a female-led spy thriller within the YRF Spy Universe directed by Shiv Rawail. The film also features Bobby Deol and Sharvari Wagh.

She is also collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Love and War, which will reportedly co-star Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

As discussions around celebrity interviews and public scrutiny continue, Alia’s response highlights the pressure actors often face during global appearances.
