72nd National Film Awards 2026: Where and When to Watch Live
The 72nd National Film Awards will be held in Gujarat on September 22, with President Droupadi Murmu presenting the honours and DD National streaming the ceremony live.
The 72nd National Film Awards will be presented on September 22 at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, Gujarat, with President Droupadi Murmu conferring the honours. The ceremony is being held outside New Delhi for the first time, as the government plans to take future editions to different parts of the country.
The ceremony, beginning at 3 pm, will recognise achievements in Indian cinema for 2024. The event can be watched online through the DD National YouTube channel, giving viewers a front-row seat without needing to make the trip to Gujarat.
Among the major honours, Article 370 has been named Best Feature Film, while Yami Gautam has won Best Actress for the film. Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan have jointly received Best Actor honours for Bramayugam and Chandu Champion, respectively. Rajkumar Periasamy has won Best Direction for Amaran, while Randeep Hooda has received the Best Debut Film of a Director award for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
Kalki 2898 AD has won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, while films including Pushpa: The Rule Part-02 and Stree 2 have also secured major awards. Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 for his contribution to Indian cinema over a career spanning more than five decades.
