Anthropic’s Dario Amodei Pushes Claude Into Salesforce Amid AI Safety Debate
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is calling for a measured pace of AI development while his company expands Claude’s integration with Salesforce business tools.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is facing renewed attention over the contrast between his warnings about rapidly advancing AI and Anthropic’s expanding commercial partnership with Salesforce. The collaboration, known as Claudeforce, is designed to bring Claude’s capabilities into Salesforce’s business software and workflows.
Salesforce and Anthropic have expanded their partnership to integrate Claude with Salesforce, Agentforce and Slack. The first major product, Salesforce in Claude, is available in beta and includes 37 pre-built sales skills. Users can ask Claude to prepare for customer calls, review deals, analyse sales pipelines, create dashboards and generate forecasts using Salesforce data.
Claude is also being integrated into Salesforce’s Agentforce platform, where it can contribute reasoning capabilities to the company’s AI systems. In Slack, Claude is becoming the default model for Slack AI and Slackbot, allowing workplace conversations to connect with Salesforce workflows and governed actions.
The partnership comes as Anthropic increasingly faces questions about whether AI agents could disrupt traditional software-as-a-service businesses. Amodei has previously rejected the idea that Anthropic wants to replace SaaS companies, saying AI agents and existing software can work together.
At the same time, Amodei has called for a slower pace of frontier AI development. In his recent essay, “We Must Pace the Frontier,” he warned that increasingly capable AI systems could create significant risks, including the possibility of rapid self-improvement. He has proposed stronger testing, third-party evaluations and greater coordination among AI companies and governments while continuing AI development at a more controlled pace.
