The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has reportedly released a video that it claims shows Pakistani Army personnel in its custody. The footage surfaced on social media as a self-declared deadline for a proposed prisoner exchange continues to approach.
According to posts shared online, the video was circulated by an independent regional news portal citing the group’s official communication channel. In the footage, several men appear on camera displaying what they say are official service cards and national identity documents.
The individuals, identified by the BLA as detained servicemen, are heard appealing to Pakistani authorities. In the video, one of the men questions why the army would allegedly deny their association despite what he claims are official documents issued to him.
The group has previously stated that it captured multiple Pakistani military personnel during coordinated attacks across Balochistan. The BLA referred to these operations as “Operation Herof 2.0.”
The release of the video comes amid a seven-day deadline announced earlier by the group for what it described as a prisoner exchange involving individuals it termed “prisoners of war.” The BLA has said that only a few days remain before the deadline expires.
However, the authenticity of the video has not been independently verified. Critics have raised questions about the footage, and there has been no official confirmation regarding the identities of the individuals shown.
Pakistani authorities have not issued a formal statement confirming the claims made in the video. There has also been no official response regarding the alleged captures, the proposed exchange, or the stated deadline.
The situation adds to ongoing tensions in Balochistan, a region that has witnessed periodic violence involving separatist groups and security forces. Observers note that official clarification from relevant authorities will be critical in assessing the developments.
As of now, details remain limited, and verification efforts are ongoing.
