A 19-year-old man has been arrested in Lucknow for allegedly killing his 49-year-old father at their home in the Aashiana area, police said.
According to officials, the incident took place in the early hours of February 20. The victim was a pathology lab owner. Police allege that after the shooting, the accused attempted to dispose of the body in parts.
Argument Before Shooting
Investigators said the incident reportedly followed a heated argument between father and son. Police sources claim the dispute was linked to academic pressure, including expectations to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Officials said the accused allegedly used his father’s licensed rifle and fired at him inside a room on the third floor of the house. A bullet was later recovered from the scene and has been sent for forensic examination.
Police added that the accused’s sister, a Class XI student, was present at home at the time. It is alleged that she was warned not to reveal what had happened.
Alleged Attempt to Destroy Evidence
After the shooting, the teenager allegedly moved the body to the ground floor. Police claim he then dismembered it in an attempt to conceal evidence and make disposal easier.
According to officers, some body parts were placed in a car and later dumped in an isolated area on the outskirts of the city. The head is yet to be recovered, and search operations are ongoing.
The remaining torso was allegedly kept inside a plastic drum in a room at the house. Police said the accused was stopped by a patrol team while allegedly attempting to dispose of the remaining remains.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Vikrant Vir said that the accused gave inconsistent statements during questioning, which raised suspicion. Following interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the crime.
Missing Complaint Filed
Police said the accused had earlier filed a missing person complaint, claiming that his father had gone missing on February 20. Officers believe this was an attempt to mislead investigators.
A forensic team examined the house and the vehicle for evidence. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and confirm the motive.
Family Background
According to police, the victim was originally from Jalaun district. His wife passed away nine years ago. The family includes a daughter studying in Class XI and another son who serves in the Uttar Pradesh Police. The victim’s father is a retired police officer.
Investigators said the accused was managing a liquor shop owned by his father and reportedly received a monthly salary of ₹17,000. Police also stated that he had scored well in Class XII, and his father allegedly wanted him to pursue a medical career.
Authorities have said the case remains under investigation, and further details will emerge as forensic reports are completed.
