Rajpal Yadav Thanks Fans After Interim Bail

Actor Rajpal Yadav has expressed gratitude to his supporters after being released from Tihar Jail following interim relief from the Delhi High Court in a ₹9 crore cheque bounce case.

The High Court suspended his sentence until March 18, granting interim bail subject to certain conditions.

Rajpal’s First Statement

Speaking to reporters after his release, Rajpal thanked people across the country and members of the film industry for standing by him.

He said he would complete 30 years in Bollywood in 2027 and expressed appreciation for the love he has received. The actor added that he is ready to respond to any allegations and thanked the High Court for the relief granted.

Court’s Order

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma granted interim bail after Rajpal deposited ₹1.5 crore, following earlier directions from the court.

He has been asked to furnish a bail bond of ₹1 lakh along with one surety. The suspension of his sentence will remain in effect until the next hearing on March 18.

The court noted that the interim relief was granted after confirmation that part of the amount linked to the bounced cheques had been deposited.

Rajpal is expected to clear the remaining dues before the next hearing in order to avoid serving his sentence.

Background of the Case

The case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal reportedly took a ₹5 crore loan from Delhi-based Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his film Ata Pata Laapata (2012).

After the film’s release, repayment issues arose. According to court records, multiple cheques issued by the actor allegedly bounced, leading to proceedings under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

In 2018, a magistrate court convicted Rajpal and his wife in the case. The conviction was later upheld by a sessions court in 2019. Earlier this month, the High Court had directed him to surrender after observing that repeated extensions had been granted in the past.

What’s Next

Rajpal surrendered earlier this month and was lodged in Tihar Jail before being granted interim bail.

He is expected to hold a press conference to address questions related to the case.

The matter remains under judicial consideration, with the next hearing scheduled for March 18.
