Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has outlined plans to position Amaravati as a hub for quantum technology and deep-tech innovation, while seeking greater participation from the five lakh-strong PanIIT alumni network. The proposals were announced at the PanIIT Andhra Pradesh Summit in Vijayawada.
The plans include a proposed Rs 500 crore PanIIT Amaravati Venture Fund for deep-tech startups, a permanent PanIIT Amaravati Council and an IIT Research Park. The council is expected to connect universities, industry and startups and facilitate technology transfer from IITs.
Naidu also announced the launch of five Q-Shiva quantum computers and said quantum computing operations in Amaravati are expected to begin on February 3, 2027, in collaboration with IBM, TCS and L&T.
The state plans to introduce AI and entrepreneurship education from Class 6, alongside initiatives covering semiconductors, aerospace, defence, drones and space technology.
Amaravati’s quantum ambitions are also part of a broader state and central push. The Centre has previously announced support for the Amaravati Quantum Valley and a dedicated Quantum and AI campus in the city.
