Rahul Gandhi has called a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders, opposition MPs and civil society representatives amid protests over alleged electoral irregularities.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has invited INDIA bloc leaders, opposition MPs, student groups and civil society members to his residence for a meeting focused on protecting democracy.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Gandhi said the gathering would be followed by a joint media interaction. He described the campaign as a people’s movement and stressed unity among opposition parties and civil society groups.

The meeting comes amid protests over alleged “vote chori” and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition leaders are also demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

A day earlier, INDIA bloc leaders and activists held a “March for Democracy” in central Delhi and submitted a joint petition to the Supreme Court concerning SIR and alleged electoral irregularities.

Several prominent opposition figures participated in the march, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule.

Protesters encountered police barricades during the march before senior opposition leaders proceeded to the Supreme Court to file their petition.

The latest meeting is expected to provide a platform for opposition leaders to coordinate their response and present their demands jointly to the media.
