An Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday after a suspected hijack alert triggered a security response. All passengers were reported safe, while aviation authorities began investigating the incident.
Flight AI-2030 landed at Jaipur International Airport at 9:35 am and was moved to an isolation bay for security checks. Initial assessments indicated that the aircraft’s operations were normal.
According to preliminary information, Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control received an emergency signal from the aircraft for a few seconds at around 9 am. The pilot reportedly activated Squawk 7500, an internationally recognised transponder code used to discreetly alert air traffic control to a hijacking or unlawful interference.
Security agencies were alerted, and authorities at Delhi airport’s war room decided to divert the aircraft to Jaipur as a precaution. Officials are examining the circumstances that led to the alert.
Jaipur airport management said all passengers were safe and were being deboarded. Passengers were expected to continue to their destination after the necessary procedures, while officials urged families not to panic.
The aircraft was seen parked in the airport’s isolation bay during the checks. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is probing the incident, and further details are awaited.
