Chhattisgarh revises PG medical and dental stipends from October 1, 2026.
Postgraduate medical and dental students at government institutions in Chhattisgarh are set to get a bigger monthly stipend from October 1, 2026. The state government has approved revised rates, with third-year PG students eligible for up to ₹93,996 per month.

For PG medical students, the first-year stipend has increased from ₹67,500 to ₹85,050, while second-year students will now receive ₹90,027 instead of ₹71,450. Third-year residents will get ₹93,996, compared with the earlier ₹74,600. Overall, medical PG stipends have risen by around 26% across the three years.

Dental PG students have received an even sharper revision. First-year residents will now get ₹85,050 per month, up from ₹53,500, while the third-year stipend has increased from ₹59,200 to ₹93,996. The overall increase for dental PG students is nearly 59%.

The revised rates were notified on September 26 following a proposal from the Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh. The hike will apply to eligible postgraduate medical and dental residents studying at government institutions across the state.

So, while PG residents are still dealing with long hours, demanding clinical duties and endless academic pressure, at least the stipend numbers are finally moving in the right direction.
