Delhi EWS Admissions 2026: Vacant Private School Seats Open for Classes 2-9
Delhi has opened online applications for vacant EWS and Freeship seats in private schools for Classes 2 to 9. Parents can apply until September 20.
The Delhi Directorate of Education has opened the online application process for vacant Economically Weaker Section and Freeship seats in private unaided recognised schools for the 2026-27 academic session. The admission drive covers available seats from Class 2 to Class 9 in eligible private schools built on government-allotted land.
Parents can submit their applications online from September 8 to September 20, 2026, through the designated admission portal or the Directorate of Education website. After the application window closes, eligible candidates will be selected through a computerised draw of lots scheduled for September 24.
For children applying under the EWS category, the family must have a valid income certificate showing an annual income of less than Rs 5 lakh from all sources. The certificate must be issued by the Revenue Department of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi before the application deadline. BPL or Food Security cards may also be accepted under the applicable rules.
The child must be a resident of Delhi, and parents will be required to provide valid proof of address during the admission process. Families should ensure that all eligibility requirements are met before submitting the application.
The Directorate of Education has also specified that only one registration can be made using a mobile number. Duplicate applications may result in cancellation. Children who have already received EWS benefits in the relevant classes are not eligible to apply again.
Age eligibility is another important requirement. The prescribed age limits range from 6 to 7 years for Class 2 through 13 to 14 years for Class 9, with the child's age calculated as of March 31, 2026.
Parents have been advised to carefully check all information before submitting the application. Details relating to address, income and supporting documents must be accurate, as incorrect addresses or false documents can lead to cancellation of the application or forfeiture of an allotted seat.
With the application window closing on September 20 and the computerised draw of lots scheduled for September 24, eligible families seeking vacant EWS and Freeship seats will need to complete the registration process within the prescribed deadline.
