Indian Embassy in Jakarta Launches Dewi AI Avatar for Public Outreach
The Indian Embassy in Jakarta has introduced Dewi, an AI avatar designed to share updates on Indian culture, travel, scholarships, business opportunities and consular services.
The Indian Embassy in Jakarta has launched Dewi, an artificial intelligence (AI) avatar to improve public outreach and strengthen India-Indonesia ties.
The virtual guide will share information on Indian culture, travel, scholarships, business and investment opportunities, along with consular updates. It will serve Indians living in Indonesia and Indonesians interested in India.
The embassy introduced Dewi during Navaratri and Durga Puja. Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty announced the launch on social media on Tuesday, inviting people to follow the new digital representative.
The name Dewi means “goddess” in Indonesian. It gives the avatar a local identity while connecting its launch with the festive season.
The embassy said the initiative would bring stories and updates about the India-Indonesia partnership closer to the public. Its message encouraged people to stay informed and connected through the new platform.
According to the Indian mission, Indonesia is home to around 1,30,000 people of Indian origin and approximately 15,000 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Many NRIs work as professionals, including chartered accountants, teachers and engineers.
Several Indian community associations also operate in Jakarta and other major Indonesian cities.
Through Dewi, the embassy aims to make information about India, consular services and bilateral engagement easier to access. The initiative adds an AI-powered channel to its public communication efforts.
