Delhi Police ACP Vivek Bhagat has requested that his Additional DCP charge remain on hold while allegations against him are investigated.
Delhi Police ACP Vivek Bhagat has asked the Police Commissioner to keep his assignment as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police on hold while a Crime Branch inquiry examines allegations of sexual harassment involving women journalists during a recent Jantar Mantar protest.

Bhagat was among 12 Selection Grade DANIPS officers assigned the current duty charge of Additional DCP on October 5. The Delhi government later modified the order after Bhagat requested that he not take up the additional responsibility until the inquiry is completed. The government clarified that the arrangement was temporary and carried no additional financial benefit or statutory powers.

Three women journalists had complained of alleged harassment and manhandling by police personnel during the October 3 protest. Their complaints were transferred to the Crime Branch for what Delhi Police described as a fair and impartial inquiry.

Bhagat’s request came amid criticism from the Cockroach Janta Party, which has publicly raised allegations against him. Separately, Delhi Police arrested a person accused of circulating fabricated AI-generated footage allegedly portraying Bhagat in a false light.

The inquiry remains ongoing, and the allegations have not been established.
