Several Indian film celebrities congratulated the national cricket team after India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match.
The victory, played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, helped India qualify for the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
Taking to social media platform X and Instagram, actors including Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Mammootty and Vivek Oberoi praised the team’s performance.
Ajay Devgn wrote that the team made the victory “look like a cakewalk” and congratulated the players. Malayalam superstar Mammootty also extended his congratulations to the Indian cricket team, calling it a proud moment for the country.
Arjun Rampal shared pictures on Instagram and described the match as a “fabulous performance” while giving a special mention to Ishan Kishan for his innings. He congratulated the “men in blue” for entering the Super Eight stage.
Anupam Kher posted a video shortly before the match concluded and celebrated as India sealed the win. In his caption, he hailed the team and expressed his excitement over the result.
Anil Kapoor also shared a message of pride on social media, applauding the Indian team’s dominant display. Actress and politician Khushbu Sundar wrote that India remains at the top after the win.
Vivek Oberoi praised Ishan Kishan’s “mammoth” 77-run knock off 40 balls and also highlighted the early wickets taken by Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
In the high-profile clash, India posted 175 for seven after Kishan’s aggressive innings set the tone. Pakistan, in reply, were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs. The win marked India’s third consecutive victory in the group stage.
With this result, India improved its overall record against Pakistan in T20 World Cup matches to 8-1.
The match once again drew widespread attention across the country, with fans and celebrities expressing their support online.
India now moves forward in the tournament with momentum as the Super Eight stage approaches.
