Iran-US Nuclear Talks Near Deadline as Trump Signals More Time

Iran-US nuclear talks continue as Trump’s 15-day deadline nears. Negotiators may get more time, with fresh discussions expected in Vienna next week.

Iran-US Nuclear Talks Near Deadline as Trump Signals More Time

Tensions between United States and Iran remain high as President Donald Trump’s 15-day deadline for a nuclear deal approaches.

The latest round of negotiations, held in Geneva and mediated by Oman, ended without a formal agreement. However, officials from Iran and Oman suggested that progress had been made.

Trump Signals Flexibility

Speaking to reporters before departing the White House, Trump said he was “not happy” with how the talks were progressing.

“I’m not happy with the fact that they’re not willing to give us what we have to have,” he said. “They cannot have nuclear weapons.”

Despite expressing disappointment, Trump indicated that negotiators may receive additional time to continue discussions in order to avoid a wider conflict in the Middle East.

Mediator Urges Patience

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr al-Busaidi, told CBS that a deal could be within reach if negotiators are given sufficient space.

He suggested that allowing more room for dialogue could help bridge remaining differences between Tehran and Washington.

Geneva Talks End Without Breakthrough

The most recent discussions between US and Iranian representatives took place in Geneva. While no agreement was reached, both Iran and Oman described the talks as constructive.

Reports suggest that US negotiators, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, left the talks without clear satisfaction over the pace of progress.

Fresh talks are expected in Vienna next week as diplomatic efforts continue.

What Is at Stake?

The negotiations aim to address concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme and prevent escalation in the region. The US has repeatedly stated that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons.

The outcome of the upcoming discussions could determine whether the two sides move toward a renewed agreement or face increased geopolitical tensions.

With the deadline looming and diplomatic channels still open, attention now shifts to Vienna, where the next phase of talks may shape the future of Iran-US relations.
