Israel Strikes Tehran; Regional Tensions Escalate

Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply after Israel carried out strikes in Tehran, with explosions reported in multiple locations across Iran’s capital.

The Israeli military said it targeted sites linked to Iran’s military infrastructure. Iranian state media confirmed blasts in Tehran but did not immediately provide full details on casualties or damage.

Reports on Iran’s Supreme Leader

Israeli authorities claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in the operation.

However, Iranian officials initially did not confirm the claim. Later reports from Iranian state-linked outlets acknowledged deaths of senior military officials, though the situation remains fluid and independently unverified.

US President Donald Trump earlier confirmed American involvement in coordinated strikes with Israel, describing the action as part of efforts to counter perceived threats.

Explosions Across the Region

In response, Iranian missile and drone launches were reported targeting Israel. Authorities in Tel Aviv said one person was killed and several others injured after a missile struck a building.

Air raid sirens sounded across central Israel as the military activated defence systems to intercept incoming threats.

Blasts were also reported in Gulf cities including Dubai, Doha and Manama, according to international media agencies. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates confirmed a fire at a port facility following debris from aerial interceptions. No large-scale casualties were immediately reported in those areas.

Airport and Travel Disruptions

The conflict disrupted international aviation. Dubai International Airport reported minor structural damage in one concourse and temporary evacuations.

In Tel Aviv, passengers were directed to bomb shelters as sirens sounded. Several global airlines suspended or rerouted flights due to airspace restrictions across the Middle East.

International Reactions

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the strikes and warned of consequences. Iranian officials described the attacks as a serious escalation and vowed retaliation.

Israel’s defence minister Israel Katz stated that the strikes were aimed at removing threats but did not elaborate on operational details.

The United Nations Security Council convened an emergency session to address the developments, while global leaders urged restraint to prevent a broader regional conflict.

Growing Regional Risk

Military analysts note that the situation represents one of the most serious escalations between Israel and Iran in recent years. Reports of drone activity near airports, missile interceptions, and strikes on military sites indicate a widening security impact across the region.

Both sides have issued strong statements, and further developments are expected as governments assess damage and diplomatic responses.

The situation remains dynamic, with official confirmations and casualty figures still emerging.
