Authorities in the Gulf region issued emergency alerts to residents after reports of potential missile threats amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Residents in Dubai received mobile phone notifications advising them to seek immediate shelter following warnings of possible missile activity. Similar alerts were later issued in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Officials later stated that the security threat in Qatar had been neutralised, according to government alerts sent to residents.
UAE Says Missiles and Drones Were Intercepted
The UAE Ministry of Defence said air defence systems intercepted nine ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones during the day.
Authorities reported that while most of the incoming aerial threats were intercepted, a small number of drones fell within UAE territory. No injuries were reported in connection with these incidents.
Officials urged residents to rely on official updates and avoid spreading unverified information.
Emergency Guidance for Residents
Authorities in Dubai also issued safety guidelines for people who received alert messages while driving.
Police advised motorists to remain calm, continue driving safely, and move to the nearest safe shelter rather than stopping abruptly on the road.
Public spaces such as parks and recreational venues were closed for the weekend as a precautionary measure.
Supermarkets in Dubai also placed temporary limits on the purchase of certain items, including fruits and vegetables, as residents stocked up on essential supplies.
Fire Contained at Fujairah Oil Facility
A fire broke out at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone after debris from an intercepted drone fell in the area, according to local authorities.
Emergency response teams managed to contain the fire, and officials confirmed that no casualties were reported.
Travel Disruptions and Evacuations
The conflict has also affected international travel across the Gulf region.
Several airlines have temporarily suspended or reduced flights to destinations including Dubai, Riyadh, Tel Aviv, and Beirut.
The Canadian government announced it had arranged a chartered evacuation flight for about 180 citizens from Dubai to Istanbul.
At the same time, airline operators said they are gradually restoring limited flight operations depending on security conditions.
Regional Situation Remains Uncertain
The Gulf region has remained on high alert as tensions continue amid the wider conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Military authorities in the region have reported multiple incidents involving drones, missiles, and air defence responses in recent days.
Officials across several countries said they are closely monitoring developments while urging residents and travellers to follow official guidance and safety instructions.
