The United States has urged its citizens in Iraq’s Kurdistan region to leave “as soon as possible,” citing potential threats linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
The advisory was issued by the US embassy in Baghdad, which warned that Iranian-backed groups could target locations commonly visited by foreigners.
Security Warning From US Embassy
According to the embassy’s statement, hotels and areas frequented by foreign nationals in the Kurdistan region may face security risks.
The advisory encouraged US citizens to depart the region safely and reconsider their accommodation choices if they decide to remain.
The warning comes as the broader regional conflict enters its seventh day, with several countries in the Middle East witnessing military activity.
Growing Regional Tensions
Recent developments in the region include missile launches, drone strikes, and air attacks reported across multiple countries.
Authorities in Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates have reported incidents involving incoming drones and missiles, while several explosions were also reported near Erbil airport in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
Military officials in the UAE said air defence systems intercepted several drones and ballistic missiles during the escalation.
Attacks Reported Across Several Locations
Reports also indicated that Iran launched missiles toward a US military base in Kuwait. Iranian state media additionally reported that a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz caught fire after being struck by a drone.
In southern Iraq, security officials reported drone strikes targeting Basra airport and nearby oil facilities.
These developments have raised concerns about the safety of international shipping and energy infrastructure in the region.
Airlines and Travel Affected
The conflict has also disrupted global travel routes. Several international airlines have suspended flights to destinations such as Beirut and Tel Aviv due to security concerns.
Indian authorities said domestic carriers cancelled hundreds of international flights linked to the Middle East while continuing limited services depending on operational conditions.
Political Statements and Military Claims
US President Donald Trump said the conflict could end if Iran agrees to what he described as “unconditional surrender.” The statement was shared on his social media platform.
Meanwhile, officials from different countries involved in the conflict have continued issuing claims about attacks and military operations. Many of these claims have not been independently verified.
Situation Continues to Evolve
Diplomatic observers say the situation remains highly fluid, with tensions affecting multiple countries across the Middle East.
Governments in the region and international organizations are closely monitoring the developments as concerns grow over the potential impact on regional security, energy routes, and civilian safety.
