The trailer of Subedaar has been released, showcasing Anil Kapoor in a powerful role as a retired army officer drawn back into conflict.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, the action drama is set against the backdrop of illegal sand mining in India’s rugged heartland. The film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 5.
A Battle of Honour
Anil Kapoor plays Subedaar Arjun Maurya, a disciplined and battle-scarred former soldier who returns home only to confront a system ruled by fear and silence.
In one of the trailer’s key moments, his character declares, “Fauji hai, seene mein goli jhel sakte hai, beizzati nahi,” underscoring the film’s central theme of dignity and honour.
The narrative builds toward a tense face-off between Arjun and Prince, played by Aditya Rawal. The story blends action with emotional conflict, particularly through Arjun’s strained relationship with his daughter Shyama, portrayed by Radhikka Madan.
Ensemble Cast and Production
The film also features Mona Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Faisal Malik and Khushboo Sundar in pivotal roles.
Produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni, the project marks Kapoor’s first collaboration with director Triveni and Prime Video. The film is presented by Opening Image Films in association with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network (AKFCN).
Anil Kapoor on the Role
Speaking about the character, Anil Kapoor described Subedaar Arjun as one of the most emotionally demanding roles of his career.
He said the character is defined by discipline, sacrifice and personal loss, adding that being involved both as an actor and producer allowed him to contribute creatively to the film’s vision.
Kapoor also expressed excitement about the film’s global release, noting that it will stream in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across India and in over 240 countries and territories.
Action Meets Emotional Drama
The trailer hints at intense action sequences while maintaining a strong emotional core. The conflict between personal grief and moral duty appears to drive the narrative.
With its mix of gritty storytelling, rural setting and high-stakes drama, Subedaar aims to deliver both spectacle and substance when it premieres next month.
