Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for a three-day official tour starting January 2, 2026. During the visit, he will chair an important meeting of a Parliamentary Consultative Committee related to national issues.

Mr. Shah is expected to arrive at Sri Vijaya Puram on Friday night. Senior officials, including the Lieutenant Governor, will receive him at the airport. This is his second visit to the islands in less than a month.

On January 3, the Home Minister will lead a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs at Wandoor. The meeting will focus on key national matters. Several Members of Parliament and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai are also expected to attend.

Later the same day, Mr. Shah will participate in an event related to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology in Dollygunj. Officials have also said that he may address a public gathering at a local ground or stadium in Sri Vijaya Puram.

At the same time, Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff, is also visiting the islands on an official tour. He is expected to travel to Car Nicobar and the Andaman and Nicobar Command to interact with senior defence officers.

Because of these high-level visits, security has been tightened across South Andaman. The local administration has temporarily banned the use of drones and other aerial activities near key locations such as the airport, meeting venues, and public grounds from January 2 to January 4.
