Delhi Tailor Killed After Dispute Over Loud Music; Juvenile Taken Into Custody

A small argument over loud music on New Year’s Day turned into a tragic incident in Delhi, where a 50-year-old tailor lost his life after being stabbed during a confrontation with a group of juveniles.

The incident happened in the Adarsh Nagar area of northwest Delhi on January 1, 2026. The victim, Bihari Lal, worked as a tailor in the nearby Shastri Nagar locality and was known in the area.

According to police, the dispute began when Lal objected to a group of youths who were shouting and playing loud music in the neighbourhood. What started as a verbal exchange quickly turned into a physical confrontation.

During the scuffle, one of the juveniles allegedly attacked Lal with a sharp weapon. Another youth is accused of physically assaulting him during the altercation. Lal suffered serious injuries and collapsed.

Local residents rushed to help and the injured man was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have taken one juvenile into custody and recovered the weapon used in the attack. Efforts are ongoing to trace another accused who is currently absconding. A criminal case has been registered, and investigators are examining eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage from the area.

The incident has raised concerns about public safety, noise-related disputes, and youth violence in residential areas.
