The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged attempts to break its “Goa First” alliance with the Goa Forward Party ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections and asked GFP leader Vijai Sardesai to clarify his position.

AAP Goa president Valmiki Naik said the alliance, announced on September 13, remains open to parties other than the Congress and BJP. He alleged that efforts were being made to undermine the arrangement and accused both major parties of contributing to defections in Goa politics.

Naik also asked Sardesai whether he stood with what AAP described as a “Congress-BJP joint venture” or with the people of Goa. Sardesai was not available for comment.

The AAP-GFP alliance has been positioned as a non-Congress, non-BJP political front for the 2027 polls. Sardesai had previously said GFP was open to political realignment and working with like-minded parties, while also indicating that Goa First was not necessarily restricted to a non-Congress alliance.

AAP currently has two MLAs in the 40-member Goa Assembly, while GFP has one. GFP had been an alliance partner of Congress in the 2022 election.

The latest exchange adds another layer to negotiations and competing alliances taking shape ahead of the 2027 polls, with Goa’s political arithmetic already becoming increasingly crowded.
