CBSE Board Exams 2027: Private Candidate Registration Opens for Class 10, 12
CBSE has opened online applications for private candidates appearing in the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. The regular application window closes on October 23, while applications with a late fee can be submitted until October 30.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the registration process for private candidates appearing in the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The application window opened on October 8, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit forms without a late fee until October 23.
Candidates who miss the deadline can apply between October 24 and October 30 by paying a late fee of Rs 2,000.
Students eligible to apply include those marked Essential Repeat or placed in the compartment category in 2026, as well as candidates who failed or were declared Essential Repeat between 2021 and 2026. Students who passed in 2026 and want to improve their marks in selected subjects can also register. Those who received a roll number but could not appear in the 2026 exams for medical reasons, excluding attendance shortages, are also eligible.
Applications must be submitted online through CBSE's private candidate portal. Only one application is permitted, and candidates need a valid email ID for OTP verification. Students who appeared in 2026 will have their details generated automatically, while older candidates must provide their roll number and passing year.
The additional-subject fee is Rs 320 per subject in India, with separate rates for candidates in Nepal and other countries. Class 12 students also need to pay practical fees where applicable.
CBSE will conduct the 2027 board examinations during February, March and April. Candidates should select their examination city carefully, as allotted centres cannot later be changed. A fresh roll number will be issued for the 2027 exams.
