Delhi University SFI Holds Campus Justice March, Demands Safer Spaces for Women
SFI students held a Campus Justice March at Delhi University’s North Campus, calling for stronger institutional action, accountability and safer spaces for women.
Students affiliated with the Students' Federation of India (SFI) held a “Campus Justice March” at Delhi University’s North Campus, raising concerns over women’s safety and demanding stronger institutional action.
The protesters carried placards and raised slogans questioning why women continue to face safety concerns in India. They called for greater accountability from authorities and institutions, arguing that safety measures should go beyond responses after incidents of violence.
The march focused on creating safer campuses and public spaces where women can move freely without having to restrict their activities because of security concerns. Protesters also highlighted the need for sustained institutional efforts to address issues related to violence and harassment.
SFI members said ensuring women’s safety requires continued action and accountability rather than temporary measures following individual incidents. They called for stronger systems to prevent violence and improve safety for women students.
The protest at DU comes amid continuing public discussions around women’s safety, with students using the march to push the issue back into the spotlight. For many students, apparently, “campus safety” shouldn’t be a feature added after something goes wrong—it should be the default setting.
