21 Lakh J&K Job Applications, Rs 114 Crore Fees and 38 Pending Exams
Job aspirants appear for a government recruitment examination in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir’s two main recruitment agencies received 21,12,121 applications for 15,964 government posts between 2023 and 2026, collecting Rs 113.91 crore in application fees, according to government data placed before the J&K Assembly.

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) conducted 245 examinations for 4,961 posts, receiving 2.76 lakh applications and collecting Rs 24.42 crore. The J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) conducted 124 examinations for 11,003 posts, receiving 18.36 lakh applications and collecting Rs 89.49 crore.

PDP MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Para has raised concerns over delays, saying 38 JKPSC examinations remain pending. Government figures cited in the Assembly show two pending examinations from 2023-24, 32 from 2025-26 and four from April 2026 onwards. Fees of Rs 28.76 lakh were linked to the pending and cancelled examinations.

Para has also questioned the functioning of JKPSC without a chairman and raised concerns about reservation and verification procedures for candidates. His claims about candidate scrutiny and the recruitment process are allegations and have not been independently established.

The government has said JKPSC is developing an online mechanism for fee refunds in cases involving withdrawn posts or duplicate payments, while postponed examinations do not automatically qualify for refunds.
