NCERT Announces 40-Week Online Science Teaching Diploma for Classes 6 to 8
NCERT will launch a 40-week online diploma in science teaching for Classes 6 to 8, with registration for the 2026–27 batch beginning October 12.
NCERT has announced a 40-week online Diploma Course in Teaching of Science at Middle Stage for teachers and others involved in science education for Classes 6 to 8.
Registration for the 2026–27 batch will open on October 12, 2026, and remain open until November 12 through the NCERTX online learning platform. The programme is scheduled to begin on November 16 and run until August 31, 2027.
The course includes 40 modules, with one module released every Monday. Participants are expected to spend around six to eight hours each week on learning activities. The programme focuses on strengthening science knowledge and classroom teaching skills through interactive, multimedia-based content.
Applicants can include BSc graduates, in-service teachers, education diploma or degree holders, pre-service teachers and others involved in science education.
The one-time enrolment fee is Rs 2,000, with no additional course fee. Participants completing all modules and tests can appear for the final examination and receive an NCERT e-certificate.
NCERT has clarified that the programme is for professional development and is not a teacher-recruitment qualification or a substitute for mandatory appointment requirements.
