NTA Exam Reforms: Nilekani Panel Consults K Radhakrishnan on NEET Security
The Nandan Nilekani-led task force reviewing NTA reforms has consulted former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan as it examines exam security, technology and recommendations made after the NEET-UG paper leak.
The Nandan Nilekani-led task force reviewing reforms in the National Testing Agency’s examination system has consulted former ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan, who previously headed a committee formed after the 2024 NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
The panel, constituted in July, is examining earlier recommendations on examination security while seeking inputs from students, parents, teachers, academic institutions, experts and examination bodies. Its review covers technology, data protection, digital security and the functioning of the NTA.
The task force includes former ISRO chairman S Somanath, former Intelligence Bureau director Tapan Deka, IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti, former education secretary Anita Karwal and logistics expert Amrit Lal Meena.
The Radhakrishnan Committee had submitted 101 recommendations in October 2024, covering question-paper security, candidate registration, computer-based testing, OMR processing, result systems and NTA restructuring. It had also suggested limiting the agency’s role primarily to higher education entrance examinations.
The latest review comes amid renewed scrutiny of national-level examinations and concerns over paper leaks and malpractice. The Supreme Court had also criticised the NTA’s handling of examination-related issues.
The Nilekani-led panel is now assessing the earlier recommendations along with additional technology-driven measures to make examinations more secure, transparent and reliable.
The task force has not yet submitted its final report, and its recommendations will determine the next phase of reforms in the NTA examination system.
