PM Narendra Modi remembered Ashok Singhal on his birth centenary, highlighting his organisational work, role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, social service and contributions to education and cultural causes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remembered former Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal on his birth centenary, describing him as a dedicated figure committed to nation building, social service and cultural work.
In an article, Modi recalled his decades-long association with Singhal and highlighted his extensive travels, organisational work and efforts to support communities during natural disasters. He specifically remembered Singhal’s contribution during the 2001 Kutch earthquake and his work among tribal communities in Gujarat.
Modi also reflected on Singhal’s early years in Prayagraj, his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and his later responsibilities within the VHP. He praised Singhal’s organisational skills, public speaking and close relationship with saints and religious leaders.
A major part of Modi’s tribute focused on Singhal’s role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He recalled his speeches during the movement and credited him, along with other leaders, for contributing to the campaign that eventually led to the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Singhal’s emphasis on social harmony, equality, education and Vedic learning. He noted his association with initiatives such as Ekal Vidyalaya and recalled his passion for music.
As Singhal’s birth centenary is observed, Modi called for younger generations to learn about his life and contributions and to carry forward the ideals he associated with service to society and the nation.
