A 65-year-old tourist from Bhopal was killed in a road accident in Assagao, Goa, after a speeding SUV allegedly rammed into his car from behind, police said.
The incident took place at the Happy Bar junction. The deceased has been identified as Bhagat Ram Sharma, who was travelling with family members in a Hyundai i20 at the time of the collision.
Severe Impact at Junction

Two other occupants of the hatchback sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable. A five-month-old infant travelling in the same vehicle was unharmed and kept under medical observation as a precaution.
Allegations of Seat Switch
Eyewitnesses alleged that occupants of the rented Mahindra Thar involved in the crash attempted to switch seats immediately after the incident.
Videos circulating on social media reportedly show a male occupant speaking on the phone, with the words, “Papa, I was at the intersection…” audible in the clip. The footage also shows significant damage to both vehicles.
Some locals at the spot claimed that the seat change was allegedly an attempt to shield the person who was driving. Police said these allegations are being verified.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the junction, along with forensic evidence, eyewitness statements and video recordings, to determine who was driving at the time of the crash.
