Avengers: Endgame Encore Beats Avatar to Become Highest-Grossing Film
Avengers: Endgame has reclaimed the global box office record after its re-release, edging past Avatar with a worldwide collection of $2.9255 billion.
Six years after first taking the global box office crown, Avengers: Endgame has reclaimed the top spot. Its latest theatrical re-release, Endgame Encore, pushed the Marvel blockbuster past James Cameron’s Avatar.
According to Box Office Mojo figures cited in the report, Endgame has reached $2.9255 billion worldwide, narrowly ahead of Avatar at $2.9237 billion.
The re-release has contributed significantly, earning $126 million globally so far. That includes $36.2 million in North America and $89.8 million internationally. China has been a major market, while the film has also topped non-local releases in countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, Ecuador and Bolivia.
In India, Endgame Encore has collected around $3.8 million, or approximately Rs 36.5 crore. Mexico and Brazil have also delivered strong numbers.
Endgame originally became the highest-grossing film in 2019 before Avatar reclaimed the record following further theatrical releases.
Now Marvel’s blockbuster is back on top ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for December 18. The film will share its release date with Dune: Part Three, setting up another potentially massive box-office battle.
Apparently, even after six years, the Avengers still aren’t done collecting receipts.
