Writer Aamil Keeyan Khan discusses Jaideep Ahlawat’s SP Rajveer Singh Tomar in Drishyam 3.
Drishyam 3 writer Aamil Keeyan Khan has explained why Jaideep Ahlawat’s police officer, SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, should not be labelled a villain. In an interview, Khan said the character is simply trying to solve a crime and uncover Vijay Salgaonkar’s secrets.

Khan argued that audiences’ emotional attachment to Vijay, played by Ajay Devgn, can influence how they view the investigation. He noted that Vijay has also made morally questionable choices, making the franchise’s conflict more complex than a simple battle between good and evil.

The writer described Ahlawat’s character as an antagonist rather than a villain. He also praised the actor’s performance, saying Ahlawat had delivered every aspect of the role effectively.

Khan also explained why the makers decided to conclude the franchise with its third instalment. According to him, Vijay Salgaonkar’s story had reached its natural conclusion, and extending it further could undermine the character’s credibility.

He said filmmakers must recognise when a story has reached its endpoint, even when commercial success creates pressure to continue.

Meanwhile, Drishyam 3 has maintained a strong box-office run. According to figures cited in the report, the film had grossed ₹489.74 crore worldwide by Day 11, including ₹378.24 crore in India and ₹111.50 crore overseas. Its India net collection stood at ₹315.25 crore.

The film has also become the highest-grossing release of Ajay Devgn’s career, according to the reported figures.
