Durga Puja 2026: Bengali Food to Try in Delhi and Where to Find It
A Bengali food spread featuring festive favourites to try while pandal-hopping in Delhi during Durga Puja.
Durga Puja in Delhi is about more than decorated pandals, new clothes and the sound of the dhaak. Bengali food is an essential part of the celebrations, and Chittaranjan Park (CR Park), often called Mini Kolkata, is a popular destination for festive flavours.

Start with bhoger khichuri, a comforting preparation of rice and moong dal served at many community pandals. Depending on the arrangements, the meal may include labra, beguni, chutney and payesh. Check with individual pandals for serving times.

For snacks, head to Ashirbad Snacks Corner in CR Park’s Market 3 for Bengali-style fish fry, cutlets and chops. Dadu Cutlet Shop in Market 2 is another option for fish fry and mutton cutlet.

If you want a hearty meal, try luchi with kosha mangsho, a rich, slow-cooked mutton curry. Restaurants to consider include 6 Ballygunge Place, Oh! Calcutta, Amar Shonar Bangla and Maa Tara. Vegetarian diners can look for Bengali favourites such as aloo posto, shukto and dhokar dalna.

Kolkata-style biryani, known for its fragrant rice and signature potato, deserves a separate stop. Aminia, Oh! Calcutta and Kolkata Biryani House in CR Park are options to explore.

For quick bites between pandals, try phuchka at Raju Chaat Corner in Market 1 or pick up a Kolkata-style kathi roll. Street stalls may also offer jhalmuri and ghugni.

Restaurant menus, stall availability and timings can change, so check before visiting. And remember to save room for mishti to round off your Pujo food trail.
