India finished fifth in the women's 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games 2026 after a crucial scoring setback during the rapid series. Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rahi Sarnobat combined for 1727 points, leaving India behind China, South Korea and Chinese Taipei.

The key moment came when Sarnobat registered a frame hit, resulting in a score of zero for that shot. A frame hit occurs when a bullet strikes the frame surrounding the scoring area instead of the target itself. Since the shot does not register on the scoring area, it receives no points.

The incident proved costly because the women's 25m pistol team event is decided by the combined scores of three shooters, making every individual shot important. India appealed the decision, arguing that the scoring technology may not have properly registered the shot.

Officials reviewed the incident but rejected India's appeal and upheld the frame-hit decision. The authorities concluded that Sarnobat had fired before properly settling on the target.

India eventually finished eight points behind silver medallists South Korea and seven behind bronze medallists Chinese Taipei, while China took gold with 1743 points.

Bhaker also had a difficult campaign, finishing 11th in individual qualification and missing the final. Esha Singh reached the final after finishing eighth, while Sarnobat placed 30th. The team result meant India missed out on another shooting medal at the Games.
