IndiGo Hikes Fuel Surcharge on Domestic, International Flights
IndiGo has raised fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights as ATF prices climb sharply, with revised charges applying to new bookings from October 6.
IndiGo has increased fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights as Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices continue to climb. The revised charges will apply to new bookings made from 12:01 am on October 6, 2026.
For domestic flights, passengers will pay Rs 900 for journeys of 1,000-1,500 km, Rs 1,150 for 1,501-2,000 km and Rs 1,300 for flights above 2,000 km.
International surcharges have also increased on several routes. Flights to SAARC countries will attract Rs 1,000 for distances up to 500 km and Rs 3,000 beyond that. Charges for South East Asia, GCC and Middle East, and North and East Asia will be Rs 5,500. Africa-bound flights will carry a Rs 6,000 surcharge, while Europe remains unchanged at Rs 10,000.
IndiGo said ATF prices have risen more than 14% month-on-month and are now among the highest levels seen in the past decade. The airline cited continued volatility and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East as factors.
The airline said it could have imposed a larger surcharge to fully offset fuel costs but opted for a more limited increase. For passengers, though, “fuel surcharge” remains one more line item making air travel a little less budget-friendly.
