Jailer 2: Vidya Balan Was Nervous Smoking in Front of Rajinikanth, Reveals Nelson
Jailer 2 director Nelson Dilipkumar revealed that Vidya Balan needed around three takes to film a cigarette scene with Rajinikanth. The sequence was shot on her first day on set and tested her confidence while playing a strong character opposite the superstar.
Vidya Balan was nervous while filming a cigarette-smoking scene with Rajinikanth in Jailer 2, director Nelson Dilipkumar has revealed. The actress reportedly needed around three takes to get the sequence right, which required her to blow smoke into the superstar’s face.
Speaking at a promotional event, Nelson said the scene was filmed on Vidya’s first day on set. She was initially apprehensive about portraying a powerful character who could stand her ground against Rajinikanth.
The director recalled noticing Vidya’s trembling hand while watching the scene on the monitor. He briefly wondered whether the shot would work, but the team got it right after a few attempts.
Nelson also noted that a hint of nervousness remained visible in Vidya’s eyes, adding an interesting detail to the performance.
The anecdote offers a glimpse into the challenges of filming a confrontational scene opposite one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars. Vidya’s character is expected to share a strong dynamic with Rajinikanth’s Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
