Police have arrested two people in Jammu’s Arnia area in an alleged drone-dropping case involving drugs and weapons, with investigators probing possible links to Pakistan-based handlers.

Officials said questioning led to the recovery of an Italian-made Beretta pistol, two magazines and four live rounds, along with around 500 grams of heroin and 500 grams of opium. The accused allegedly told investigators they had received two consignments through drone drops.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Arms Act, with further investigation underway.

The arrests were made as security agencies continued monitoring drone-based smuggling along the International Border in Jammu. Investigators are examining the alleged source of the consignments and whether other people were involved in the network.

The development comes days after the Army reported killing Mohammad Asif, alias Hashim Moosa, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, during an operation in Budgam. The Union government has linked him to several attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, including the 2025 Pahalgam attack.

The latest case remains under investigation, and allegations against the arrested individuals will be subject to due legal process.
