Former Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global standing while claiming that efforts were being made to undermine him.
Former Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in raising India’s profile globally while claiming that efforts are being made to undermine the Indian leader.
Vucic made the remarks in a podcast clip that circulated online as Modi marked 25 years as head of government. Vucic said India had become an important force on the world stage under Modi and credited him with what he described as significant achievements.
However, Vucic did not identify who he believed was behind the alleged efforts to undermine Modi or provide specific evidence for the claim. His comments therefore remain his assessment rather than an independently established finding.
Vucic also congratulated Modi publicly on completing 25 years in public service, noting his journey from Gujarat chief minister to prime minister. India’s Press Information Bureau said Vucic was among international leaders who congratulated Modi on the milestone.
Modi marked the anniversary on October 7, reflecting on his political journey and reiterating his goal of building a developed India by 2047.
Vucic and Modi have also held bilateral discussions in the past, including talks on strengthening India-Serbia cooperation.
