The Puranic Bhagavad Gita Episode 2 Takes Viewers to the Battlefield of Kurukshetra
The Puranic’s Bhagavad Gita Episode 2 takes viewers from Hastinapur to the battlefield of Kurukshetra, introducing the Pandavas, Kauravas, Krishna and Arjuna as the great war prepares to begin.
The Puranic’s Bhagavad Gita series moves from the royal chambers of Hastinapur to the vast battlefield of Kurukshetra in Episode 2, setting the stage for one of the most significant conversations in the Mahabharata.
Following Episode 1, where Maharishi Ved Vyasa grants Sanjaya divine vision to witness the events of the war, the second episode presents Kurukshetra through Sanjaya’s narration to Dhritarashtra.
The episode opens with a wide cinematic view of the battlefield. Thousands of soldiers, chariots, elephants and horses stand assembled as flags rise above the vast army formations. Dust fills the air while the atmosphere reflects the tension immediately before the battle begins.
Sanjaya describes Kurukshetra as the setting for a great conflict between two sides of the same Kuru lineage. The Pandavas and Kauravas, despite belonging to the same family, now stand on opposite sides of the battlefield.
The narration introduces the five Pandava brothers and the hundred Kaurava brothers, highlighting the scale of the armies assembled for the war. The battlefield is portrayed not merely as a military confrontation, but as the setting for a conflict involving questions of duty, justice, power and dharma.
As the camera moves through the assembled forces, the scale of the war becomes increasingly visible — chariots, elephants, horses and thousands of warriors preparing for battle.
The episode then gradually shifts its focus towards Krishna and Arjuna, whose chariot stands among the forces gathered at Kurukshetra.
This transition is central to the story of the Bhagavad Gita. The battlefield is about to become the setting for a dialogue that goes beyond the immediate conflict. Through Krishna’s conversation with Arjuna, questions surrounding duty, action, knowledge, devotion and the nature of the self will become central to the narrative.
Episode 2 therefore serves as the bridge between the preparation for war and the philosophical dialogue that forms the heart of the Bhagavad Gita.
As Sanjaya’s narration reaches Krishna and Arjuna’s chariot, the series moves one step closer to the moment when the teachings of the Gita begin.
