Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s government faces scrutiny after attacks on a Dhaka clinic and a YouTuber’s studio.
Two incidents of vandalism and alleged looting in Dhaka have intensified scrutiny of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s BNP-led government, with allegations of political involvement emerging in both cases.

A medical centre serving disadvantaged families in Mirpur was attacked and partially demolished on September 25. Medicines, medical equipment, documents and cash were reportedly looted. Local reports later alleged that several BNP-linked figures were involved in organising or facilitating the attack. BNP lawmaker Ferdousi Ahmed Misti, whose associates were reportedly linked to some of those named, denied involvement. She resigned from Parliament on October 1 after pressure from the BNP leadership.

A day later, BrownFish Studio, operated by YouTuber Salman Muqtadir, was among properties vandalised at a compound near Dhaka’s ECB Chattar. Muqtadir alleged that BNP activists were involved, while Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said an initial police inquiry pointed instead to a land dispute.

Police have arrested several people in connection with the studio attack, including a retired major general.

The two incidents have drawn criticism from opposition parties and civil society groups, who have called for investigations into the allegations and police response.

For Tarique Rahman’s government, the controversy is another political headache—because apparently governing Bangladesh wasn’t already enough of a full-time job.
