Dhanush-Mammootty’s OM Chapter 1 Gets November 20 Release Date
Dhanush and Mammootty’s OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood will now release on November 20 after moving away from the Diwali window.
Dhanush and Mammootty’s upcoming film OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood has finally locked its new theatrical release date. The film, which was earlier scheduled to arrive on October 16, will now hit cinemas on November 20, 2026.
The makers announced the new date on Friday along with a poster featuring Dhanush and Mammootty. The decision also moves the film away from the busy Diwali release period, where it could have faced competition from Ramayana Part One and Suriya’s Scene.
The film’s original October release date had already been postponed after it was scheduled just a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Dhanush had earlier confirmed that the makers wanted to avoid a direct clash with the Rajinikanth-starrer and cited his respect for the veteran actor.
The new November date now gives OM Chapter 1 a separate release window. The film is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and features Dhanush and Mammootty in prominent roles, alongside Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah.
The project has generated attention for its ensemble cast and its large-scale production. Sai Abhyankkar has composed the music, while Ezhil Arasu K. is handling cinematography and R Kalaivanan is the editor. A. Pannerselvam serves as the art director, with Yannick Ben and Kecha Khamphakdee choreographing the action sequences.
The film is produced by Shraddha Agrawal, Dhanush and Azmat Jagmag.
With the November 20 release date now confirmed, OM Chapter 1 has stepped out of the Diwali race and secured a later theatrical window. After dodging multiple release-date clashes, the film has finally found its spot on the calendar—because apparently even movies need to negotiate their social calendar.
