Kriti Sanon Recalls Rakhi Ad Row: “My Choli Became a Panel Discussion”
Kriti Sanon has revisited the controversy surrounding her Raksha Bandhan advertisement, joking with Kareena Kapoor Khan about how her outfit became the subject of prime-time television debates.
Kriti Sanon has opened up about the controversy surrounding her Raksha Bandhan advertisement in the trailer for Kareena Kapoor Khan’s What Women Want Season 6.
Speaking to Kareena, Kriti recalled her surprise at seeing the debate over her outfit move from social media to prime-time television. She quipped that her choli had become a “six-person panel discussion,” prompting an amused response from Kareena.
The controversy began after jewellery brand GIVA released a Raksha Bandhan campaign featuring Kriti in an Indo-Western outfit while celebrating the festival with her brother and pet dog. Some viewers criticised her bralette-style blouse and questioned the campaign’s presentation of the festival. The advertisement was later taken down.
Kriti subsequently defended the campaign, saying festivals are defined by emotions and traditions rather than clothing. She also questioned why women’s respect for culture is so often judged through their outfits.
Asked what women really want in the show, Kriti gave a blunt answer: “To not be judged, and people should mind their business.”
Honestly, after one choli generated enough television content for a panel, that answer practically writes itself.
Kriti was last seen in Cocktail 2, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
