Sigma Box Office Day 1: Jason Sanjay’s Film Opens With Rs 2.35 Crore
Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut Sigma opened to Rs 2.35 crore net in India on October 2, with the Tamil version leading the film’s first-day collections.
Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut Sigma opened in theatres on October 2, collecting Rs 2.35 crore net in India on its first day, according to trade estimates. The film’s domestic gross stood at around Rs 2.70 crore.
Starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, the episodic action-comedy recorded 31.1 per cent overall occupancy across 1,813 shows. The Tamil version emerged as the strongest performer, collecting Rs 1.50 crore net from 925 shows with 50.10 per cent occupancy.
The Telugu version contributed Rs 85 lakh net from 888 shows, while the Hindi version recorded 43.44 per cent overall occupancy.
Tamil Nadu remained the biggest contributor, generating around Rs 1.30 crore in gross earnings. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana added Rs 1 crore, followed by Karnataka with Rs 25 lakh and Kerala with Rs 12 lakh.
While the opening is steady, the film has received a mixed critical response. Reviews have questioned its execution and lack of tension, suggesting that the heist drama may need stronger word of mouth to gain momentum.
For a debut behind the camera, Rs 2.35 crore is a start — but the box office clearly isn’t handing out bonus marks for family connections.
